GRE Test Dates

The computer-based general GRE is given year-round at various testing centers in the United States, Canada, and many other countries. The paper-based test is given only during certain times each year, and in limited locations. In China, Korea, and Taiwan, a split test is given, where part of the test is conducted on a computer, while another is conducted using paper and pencil.

The Computer Adaptive GRE Test - Dates

Use the test center locator on the ETS website to locate your nearest test center. You'll want to make an appointment as soon as possible so that you can register to take the test at a time and place of your choice.

The Paper Based GRE Test - Dates

The paper-based test is offered in locations where computer-based testing is not available. When registering to take a paper-based GRE, pay special attention to the aplication deadline and the registration receipt dates at ETS.

The Split GRE Test

The split-test of the General Test, which is given in China, Korea, and Taiwan, is offered in 2 parts. The writing section is offered on the computer, while the math and verbal quantitative sections are offered as paper-based tests. You are required to take both the computer-based portion and the paper-based portion of the test in the same year.
