The Graduate Record Examination, GRE,
Revised General Test is a standardized exam that is administered by the Educational
Testing Service. Exam scores are used by graduate school admission offices in the
United States and in other English-speaking countries. The GRE exam measures quantitative,
verbal, and essay writing skills. It is most often offered as a computer-based exam.

The Format of the GRE Revised General Test
The GRE Test underwent a complete overhaul in August 2011. The verbal reasoning
section has been revamped, while the quantitative and the analytical writing sections
changed slightly. The two verbal sections contain reading comprehension, text completion,
and sentence equivalence questions, while the two quantitative reasoning sections
contain multiple choice, quantitative comparison, and user input questions. The
analytical writing section is comprised of two writing tasks, each 30 minutes long.
